The Cardinal Rule when it comes to weight loss is; Calories in VS Calories out. Meaning if you're in taking more than you're body is burning the more likely you are to gain weight and vice versa. But what if you've done your caloric deficit, you've made your goal weight/ physique is it safe to continue in that deficit?

NO!!!!!!

As you reach your goals with health and fitness we have remember that with the more muscle we have and the less fat we enter a new tax bracket lets say of calorie intake. Meaning our body's burn more! Meaning You can Eat More! Everyone loves to hear that.

It's a common trend I see that when someone has reached their goals, they tend to stay in that deficit to maintain their new weight/ physique. But this can actually negatively impact ones overall health and weight loss. People may start to plateau or gradually gain weight because their body needs to "hold on" to everything because its not getting anything extra to process/ re fuel with. This can also be called starvation mode. People may also experience physiological symptoms like; Fatigue, Mood Swings, Nausea, Dehydration, Constipation, and Binge Eating.

To combat this, it's important to learn how to feed your new weight/ physique by re evaluating Resting Metabolic Rate based on ones height, new weight, new age (if they've had a birthday since their goal), and athletic level. This new value will be ones maintenance goal that they'll work up to. This concept is also commonly known as reverse dieting. It's very common to see this in the body building community as they gain more muscle throughout the off season and lose weight in competition season. But for the general person, they want to focus on being able to get out of a deficit and into a maintenance phase.

Overall its important to learn how to feed your body as it changes, whether gaining or losing weight to be able to continue reaching your goals. Til Next Time!
